- ELMS - Through a special partnership with Microsoft, we can offer CS students extremely low-cost copies of Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Business Edition, Visual Studio, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, and more!
- Computer Labs - There are 2 computer labs open to CS Students (in addition to the ones made available by OCCS [1].) One is in Dragas Hall (formerly Hughes Hall) 1111K (Problem Solving Lab) and the other lab is Room 3104 in the E&CS Building (3rd floor, Open Research Lab). CS Lab Hours A Scanner with premium Adobe software is available in the Problem Solving lab in one of the back rows closest to the window.
- If the CS Dept. Webserver is down you can access URL's in the form http://www.cs.odu.edu/~username at http://eternity.cs.odu.edu/~username -- "interactive" applications and auto directory listing could be crippled but most pages should work fine
- Proxy Card Access - All CS majors and students taking a CS course are eligible to replace their current student ID with a "proxy card" that has an RFID chip in it so they can access the E&CS building and the CS Dept. Open Computer Lab (3rd floor) at any time. This access is also available for the Dragas Hall (formerly Hughes) computer lab. A one-time fee of $10 payable in the CS office (See Shannon) is charged for the card and fees related to granting access. See this page for more details

- fred in the Dragas CS office and burt in the E+CS CS office (3300) allow you to scan any document or book to a PDF to go directly to your email account. Please ask the office staff for assistance if you need help.
- The Virtual Computer Lab offers remote desktop access to any CS student to nearly all software available in the OR lab. Visit this webpage for more information.

Most of these principles also extend outside the technical realm.
